CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture, is a way for members of the community to support local farmers by purchsing farm "shares" at the begining of the growing season. Farmers put CSA money towards the development and production of their farm, and the CSA member reaps the benefits of local, fresh, seasonal produce. Typically, CSA members receive weekly baskets throughout the growing season of whatever the farmer has available. The benefits are endless, but include:
- lower food-carbon-footprint due to reduced transportation,
- health benefits from the freshest food you can find usually picked within days of delivery, and a
- strengthened local economy.
